Junior Estimator
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 - $100,000We are working with a well-established mechanical and civil contractor based in Brooklyn, NY, with four decades of experience delivering critical infrastructure work across New York City. The company self-performs public works, wastewater, institutional, and heavy mechanical projects for city and state agencies and has built a growing backlog on the strength of finishing what it starts. Despite its scale, it runs like a close-knit, family-oriented team rather than a large corporate shop, with a field-first operating philosophy summed up internally as the field drives the bus. As bid volume grows, the company is adding a Junior Estimator to its preconstruction team to increase estimating capacity, keep bids consistent and on time, and free up senior estimators to focus on higher-value work. This is a true entry point into mechanical estimating. You will handle takeoffs, quotes, and bid assembly under the guidance of experienced estimators, and take on more scopes and bid sections as you prove yourself. The right person is hungry, technical, and coachable, and wants to learn the trade from the ground up with a team that will invest in them.
What You'll Do:
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for mechanical scopes, including piping, valves, equipment, and pipe supports
  • Organize and manage bid documents, making sure drawings, specifications, and addenda are current and every estimate reflects the latest information
  • Request, track, and follow up on vendor and subcontractor quotes
  • Level quotes side by side and identify scope gaps, exclusions, and overlaps
  • Assist with bid assembly, including scope sheets, clarifications, qualifications, and pricing tabs
  • Help prepare bid forms and required documentation for public sector bids
  • Track bid deadlines and help keep multiple bids moving at the same time
  • Maintain clean, complete, well-organized estimating files in company systems
  • Support the handoff of awarded work to Operations with clearly defined scope
  • Work closely with senior estimators to learn pricing, labor, and bid strategy
  • Clearly explain and stand behind your takeoff methodology
  • Take ownership of more scopes and bid sections over time
  • What You'll Bring0 to 3 years of construction or estimating experience
  • Trade school, Construction Management or Engineering graduates, and candidates with small contractor experience all welcome
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam or similar takeoff software
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications; MEP experience strongly preferred
  • Mechanical, plumbing, or piping exposure a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • A sense of urgency and comfort working to hard deadlines, with quote turnaround measured in hours, not days
  • Low ego and a genuine willingness to learn
  • A process-driven mindset and comfort working within structured systems
  • Solid Excel skills
  • How Success Is Measured
  • Takeoff accuracy within 5% variance
  • Quote turnaround within 24 to 48 hours
  • Zero missed bid deadlines
  • Clean, organized bid files
  • Growing independence across scopes
What You'll Gain:
  • Salary range of $75,000 - $100,000 based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid time off, 5 days in your first year and 10 days annually after that
  • A clear career path from Junior Estimator to Estimator I, Estimator II, and Senior Estimator
  • Increasing ownership of scopes and bid sections as your skills grow
  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced estimators on pricing, labor, and bid strategy
  • The stability of a growing backlog of public agency work backed by a company with four decades of infrastructure experience across New York City
  • A close-knit, family-style culture where people build long careers rather than move through as a number
  • Real investment in your development, with ongoing training as the company takes on more complex work
  • The tangible, public impact of work on the infrastructure that keeps New York City running
At Framework, we keep it simple: we connect great people with great builders. We're not just filling seats - we're helping construction professionals find real opportunities with companies that value what they bring to the table. Our candidates trust us because we're honest, we follow through, and we never push roles that aren't the right fit. We take the time to understand where you're coming from and where you want to go. The builders we represent are more than just clients to us. Many of them are friends and longtime partners. If we wouldn't feel confident working for them ourselves, we wouldn't introduce them to the people who trust us with their careers. On the flip side, our clients count on us to bring high-quality people who are the real deal - both in skill and character. They'll tell you we just get it. We're proud to be the kind of recruiters who do what's right, not what's easy, and we make sure it's a win for everyone involved.
