Design Manager

Position Summary: The Design Manager is responsible for overseeing the design and pre-construction planning of EV charging infrastructure projects, ensuring designs are technically sound, permit-ready, and aligned with project requirements. This position manages site layouts, engineering coordination, and permitting activities while working closely with internal teams and third-party engineering partners to advance projects from initial design through construction readiness. The Design Manager also serves as a key technical resource throughout project execution, supporting utility coordination and construction teams to resolve design-related challenges and ensure successful project delivery.

Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Commercial team to develop site designs supporting bid proposals and project opportunities. Develop comprehensive site designs for awarded projects, coordinating the preparation of stamped engineering plans. Manage coordination with third-party engineering firms across active projects, ensuring timely delivery and thorough review of stamped plans prior to construction. Provide technical and engineering support to construction and field teams, ensuring design accuracy and feasibility throughout project execution. Coordinate with utility providers to support project design requirements and successful execution. Oversee and facilitate the permitting process, ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements. Travel may be required for more than 20% of the time. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial, land development or pre-construction. Demonstrated experience with EV charging infrastructure deployment. Strong understanding of electric utility infrastructure preferred. Proficiency in design and plan review software, including AutoCAD and Bluebeam, required. Familiarity with project stage-gate processes and development workflows. Experience developing project schedules, managing timelines, and tracking project deliverables using project management platforms such as Sitetracker or similar systems.
