In this role, you will manage day-to-day payroll operations for hourly and salary staff, ensuring accurate data entry, tax compliance, and timely payroll processing. You will work within a cross-functional team to support payroll integrity and respond to employee inquiries. The position combines routine processing with optimization efforts to reduce manual tasks and improve efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Review and verify payroll data for accuracy before processing
- Handle payroll entries, off-cycle payments, and final paychecks
- Administer garnishments and child support deductions
- Process new hires/terminations and setup (direct deposit, pay cards)
- Manage tax and 3rd-party file submissions (401K, HSA, unions, taxes)
- Maintain payroll data integrity and assist cross-functionally with HRSSRespond to employee wage verification requests and pay-related inquiries
- Utilize Workday for paycheck processing and resolve employee questions
- Maintain daily payroll inbox via Fresh Service ticketing system
- Support audit requests and data gathering for unions and compliance
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual transactions and improve processes
- Contribute to payroll projects and special assignments as needed
Key requirements:
- 3+ years direct payroll processing experience
- Experience with Workday
- Proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong confidentiality and integrity
- Teamwork orientation
- Experience in a union environment (strongly preferred)
- Professional experience with AI tools (preferred)team collaborationattention to detailproblem solving
