Mechanical Machinist Under supervision, performs skilled mechanical duties at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. May set up and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses and other machine tools in the performance of machine work to close tolerances. May be assigned as needed to support decon, housekeeping, painting, calibration, and other duties as assigned by the Company.
Responsibilities: Establish and follow shop best practices for safety, organization, and tool management. Operate independently as an experienced machinist, fabricator, and hands-on builder. Take ownership of complex part fabrication critical to Comanche Peak/Fleet support. Support emergent time critical part fabrication including off normal hours as required. Set up, program, operate, and maintain advanced machining equipment. Operate multi-axis CNC mills and CNC laser cutters. Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code or CAM software. Fabricate precision components to meet engineering detailed quality inspections using CMMs, gauges, and other metrology tools. Verify parts meet tight GD&T and engineering requirements. Collaborate with engineers and leadership on urgent fabrication priorities. Design, build, and implement fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids. Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment. Troubleshoot equipment issues and support machine uptime. Document repairs and coordinate outside service when needed.
