Apply for this role →Campus Police Dispatcher Incumbents perform routine clerical, dispatching, patrolling, and monitoring work related to campus safety and security. Incumbents screen incoming emergency and non-emergency calls to determine location, nature of the call, gather information, and dispatch and assign appropriate personnel and resources to incidents.

Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey informationAbility to cognitively process information being simultaneously communicated through multiple communication sources including police radios, telephones, and in-person reports during emergency and high-pressure incidents
Must be able to come to logical conclusions or required actions and resources needed to resolve emergency situations; then dispatch and communicate with emergency response personnel until the successful conclusion of the emergency
Ability to make sound decisions rapidly and to take appropriate action quickly
Ability to project a clear, distinct speaking voice
Ability to distinguish and interpret meaning of colors on video display terminals
Ability to read understand, interpret and disseminate standard official legal documents, such as warrants, criminal history and other sensitive informationAbility to exercise judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving problems

Ability to simultaneously receive and disseminate information to and from officers, citizens, peer dispatchers, and outside agencies via CAD, telephone, radio, and in person
Physical Requirements:
Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
