Position Summary: The Production Manager coordinates customer orders from sales order entry through production and shipment. This role manages production planning, project execution, and daily manufacturing priorities while coordinating closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse, Shipping, and Production. The Production Manager ensures orders are entered accurately, work is properly planned and released, schedules are maintained, materials are available, and production is completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
What You’ll Do: Order Management & Production Planning Receive approved purchase orders and sales documentation, verify order details, and accurately enter customer sales orders into the ERP system. Review purchase orders to confirm pricing, specifications, delivery requirements, shipping terms, and supporting documentation are complete and consistent with the applicable quotation. Review inventory, material availability, workload, facility capabilities, lead times, and sales priorities to develop and maintain production schedules. Convert sales orders into accurate shop orders, including bills of material, drawings, work instructions, quality documentation, and required non-stock materials before release to production. Project & Schedule Management Manage customer orders from receipt through shipment. Track project milestones, production schedules, and customer due dates. Identify potential risks, material shortages, bottlenecks, or delays and coordinate corrective actions. Establish production priorities and monitor work in process. Adjust schedules as production conditions and customer priorities change. Expedite critical materials or manufacturing operations when necessary to maintain committed delivery dates. Production Leadership Supervise and lead production, maintenance, and warehouse personnel with a focus on safety, accountability, teamwork, quality, and performance. Direct and coordinate daily production activities, including machining, assembly, testing, and material movement. Ensure production activities support established safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives. Provide clear direction to employees and help resolve production, scheduling, staffing, and workflow issues. Promote a culture of accountability, communication, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Materials, Purchasing & Inventory Coordination Work with Purchasing and inventory personnel to identify material shortages and required non-stock materials or components. Ensure materials and components are available when required by the production schedule. Communicate and help resolve material constraints that may affect production or customer delivery commitments. Quality, Shipping & Customer Delivery Coordinate inspections, testing, documentation, and shipment readiness. Ensure completed equipment meets applicable customer requirements before shipment. Work with Quality, Production, Warehouse, and Shipping to resolve issues that could affect completion or delivery. Ensure customer orders are completed accurately and prepared for shipment according to committed delivery dates. Cross-Functional Coordination Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Warehouse, Shipping, and Production throughout the order-to-shipment process. Ensure customer requirements, technical information, production priorities, and internal expectations are clearly communicated. Work across departments to resolve order, engineering, material, quality, and scheduling issues. ERP, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate production, order, scheduling, and project information within the ERP system. Monitor production performance and order progress. Identify opportunities to improve workflow, production planning, communication, efficiency, and on-time delivery. Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing operations.
What We’re Looking For
Manufacturing Experience: 3+ years of production planning, project management, manufacturing supervision, order management, or related industrial experience preferred. Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial manufacturing, machining, assembly, pumps, rotating equipment, or related engineered products preferred. Production Planning: Ability to evaluate workload, materials, priorities, lead times, and capacity to develop and maintain effective production schedules. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple customer orders and projects simultaneously, establish priorities, track deadlines, and drive projects through completion. Leadership: Proven ability to lead production personnel, establish accountability, resolve problems, and maintain performance in a deadline-driven manufacturing environment. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across departments and with customers. ERP & Technology: Experience working with ERP systems and other business or manufacturing software. Microsoft Office: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Attention to Detail: Ability to review technical and commercial order information and maintain accurate production and project records. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify production, scheduling, material, and workflow issues and coordinate practical solutions. Results Orientation: Proven ability to manage competing priorities and drive results while maintaining safety, quality, and customer expectations.
Education & Experience: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of manufacturing, production planning, project management, technical, and leadership experience will also be considered. Supervisory Responsibility: This position is responsible for supervising all manufacturing personnel at the Fairview, TN location, including production, maintenance, and warehouse personnel as applicable.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work in both office and manufacturing environments. Office responsibilities include production planning, order management, ERP system activity, scheduling, reporting, communication, and other administrative responsibilities. The position also requires regular interaction with manufacturing operations. The employee may be exposed to moving equipment and machinery, fumes or airborne particles, varying temperatures, and elevated noise levels associated with an industrial manufacturing environment. Appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to established safety procedures are required when working in designated manufacturing areas.
