Job Description:
- The Senior Control System Engineer is part of the Software Systems
- Capability function.
- They will specify, design and validate complex sub-systems, including high-level requirements for software and hardware systemcomponents, this will include creation of mathematical models andsimulations of control and actuation systems.
They are responsible for the on-time delivery and quality of thecontrol system work products associated with the validation, design andverification of the system. This shall be achieved through evaluation andmodelling of requirements, design and verification work products to ensurethat the system implementation satisfies the validated requirements.
Key Accountabilities:
Evaluate and agree control system requirements with stakeholders.
Capture evidence of requirement validation, use cases, designconstraints, quality, safety and security attributes, etc., in models andwork products.
Allocate control system requirements to test vehicles defined in theverification plan.
Analysis of control system functional behavior, including modellingand simulation, to demonstrate that the design meets validatedrequirements.
Develop and review control system tests that will provide evidenceto demonstrate that the control system requirements have been satisfied.
Provides targeted testing of control system functionality to supportproblem investigation and problem closures and customer issues.
Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performancecapabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective componentdesign.
Develop the knowledge required to provide advice to project teamsand be able to create, search, and reuse knowledge with some guidance fromestablished practitioners.
Produce reports to document the work carried out.
Working with the guidance of Control System Specialists undertakesthe detailed specification, definition and integration of the system, ensuring that it will accommodate any identified hazards.
Requirements:
- Key Experiences and any Qualifications
- Working knowledge of aircraft engine interfaces, componenttechnology and behavior during normal and abnormal operation, and softwareand hardware development process constraints.
- A working appreciation of associated engineering disciplines.
- Proficient in design and analysis tools.
- Professional courage to highlight areas of concern and risk withregard to suitability of a product to meet its requirements in a safe andfunctionally appropriate way.
- An ability to interpret test results and provide an informed opinionor conclusion as to the outcome of the analysis. This includes anunderstanding of measurement uncertainty.
- A demonstrated ability to manage tasks to completion ensuring thatthe relevant areas of the business are appropriately informed.
- An ability to identify and manage risk in collaboration with teammembers.
- Self-motivated, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to understand thelevel of analysis required.
- Good time management skills able to prioritize and execute tasks ina high-pressure environment. Dynamically respond to evolving objectivesand emerging opportunities while working in coordination with amultidisciplinary, energetic team of engineers and scientists.
- Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, able tocommunicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Able to research application issues and products by being outwardfocused and able to seek solutions/information from outside of immediatearea, including suppliers, universities, customers, related industries
