DMVOverview We are working with a leading specialist bridge and infrastructure contractor that is looking to hire an experienced Senior Project Manager to help lead a growing portfolio of complex projects. The business is involved in bridge construction, structural repair and strengthening, post-tensioning, infrastructure rehabilitation, and other specialist structural work. We’re looking for someone who has been around complex construction projects and knows how to take ownership — from putting the project plan together and managing the team, through to controlling costs, dealing with clients, and getting the job successfully over the finish line. This role would suit a Senior PM who enjoys having a say in how projects are delivered, likes working closely with the field, and is comfortable managing both the commercial and operational side of a project.
Key Responsibilities:
Take overall responsibility for the delivery of large and complex bridge and infrastructure projects Lead projects from preconstruction through completion Manage project budgets, costs, forecasting, schedule, and profitability Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, Project Engineers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers Manage client relationships and act as a key point of contact throughout the project Handle change orders, RFIs, submittals, contracts, claims, and other commercial matters Review project plans and specifications and work with the team to find practical construction solutions Identify potential project risks early and work with the team to address them Keep projects on track from a cost, schedule, safety, and quality perspective Lead preconstruction efforts including planning, estimating, scheduling, and constructability reviews Support procurement and subcontractor negotiations Mentor and develop Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project staff Work with senior leadership on project strategy, client relationships, and business development Get involved in proposals, estimates, and new project pursuits where appropriate Help improve project delivery processes and share lessons learned across the business
Required Experience & Qualifications:
10–15+ years of construction experience, preferably in bridge, structural, heavy civil, or transportation construction Proven experience managing large or technically complex projects Strong background in bridge construction, structural rehabilitation, repair, or strengthening Experience with post-tensioning, concrete repair, structural strengthening, bridge rehabilitation, cable systems, bearings, expansion joints, or similar specialist work is highly desirable Experience working on DOT, public works, transportation, or major infrastructure projects Strong commercial understanding, including budgets, forecasting, change orders, contracts, and project risk Experience leading and mentoring Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field teams Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred Strong communication and client-management skills Comfortable dealing with issues directly and making decisions in a fast-moving construction environment Experience with Procore, Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar software Willingness to travel depending on project requirements Why This Opportunity Opportunity to take a senior leadership role on highly technical bridge and infrastructure projects Work for a specialist contractor where engineering and construction expertise are genuinely valued Get involved in projects covering bridge repair, strengthening, post-tensioning, rehabilitation, and new construction Significant ownership over project delivery and commercial performance Opportunity to mentor a strong project team and help develop the next generation of PMsWork alongside experienced engineers and construction professionals Strong long-term opportunity within a growing specialist infrastructure business Competitive compensation and full benefits package
