Staff Engineer

Job Description: Walker County Planning and Development Department Job Title: Staff Engineer Planning and Development Department Starting Annual Salary:$105,000.00 -135,066.00(Commensurate with Education and Experience) Education, Experience and Skill Requirements•Bachelor’s degree in engineering. •Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering, municipal engineering, or a relatedengineering field.•Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas.•Demonstrates strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, evaluate data, anddraw evidence-based conclusions. •Valid Driver’s License Primary Job Duties•Conducts comprehensive reviews of plats, subdivision layouts, permitting reviews, floodplain management applications, and site development plans to ensure compliancewith applicable regulations and design standards. •Field inspections and analysis of drainage, construction, and infrastructure.•Review of testing and engineering analysis•Assist with administration of engineering contracts•Provide broad knowledge of road construction, public infrastructure, hydrologic andhydraulic engineering principles, practices, and methods, and their practical application •Attend meetings on behalf of department and supervisors. •Review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling submittals to support development planapplications and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations •Review of on-site sewage facility plans (training available if needed in this area)•Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using specialized engineering software •Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. This position is required to perform a range of physical activities to ensure compliance with standards, requirements, and codes.
