We are currently in search of an Interim Director of Human Resources and Administration for a Youth Development and Community Services organization located in San Francisco (Richmond District). This is a Part-Time, Hybrid, Temporary-to-Permanent position. If selected for the role permanently, the annual salary range is $130,000–$140,000, plus benefits. The regular schedule is three days in the office and two days remote.

Is This Your Dream Job? The Interim Director of Human Resources and Administration significantly impacts the organization’s strategic direction, culture, and overall success. This position will revise, create, and oversee all people practices across the organization and serve as a coach to managers and staff.
Our Ideal Candidate:
BA in Business Administration, HR, or related. Relevant combination of skills and experience will be considered
5-7 years of experience leading the HR department and supporting 100+ employees in multiple locations throughout San Francisco
Possess experience and ability to serve as a Coach, Facilitator, Counselor, Mentor, and Leader to support growth and development of staff
Knowledge and ability to be a hands-on builder of HR processes and programs
Exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
Strong HR generalist background and hands-on approach. Confident in conducting training for staff and managers
Proven experience managing ambiguity and complex situations while keeping others engaged
Experience working with multicultural employee backgrounds
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to business pressures and people challenges
Ability to lift or move at least 25lbs
How You Will Spend Your Day Take ownership of complex employee-relations matters and advise leadership on appropriate actions
Manage complex leave administration and ensure compliance with San Francisco, California, and federal employment requirements
Coach supervisors on employee performance, PIPs, feedback, corrective action, supervision, and consistent application of HR policies
Review and advance the HR assessment completed by the former HR Director, identifying immediate and longer-term priorities
Develop and improve recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, retention, and offboarding processes
Recommend opportunities to automate onboarding and better utilize ADP Workforce Now and ADP Recruiter
Address the organization’s high-volume seasonal hiring and onboarding needs
Support hiring within the HR department and recommend an appropriate structure for a future three- to four-person HR team
Build and optimize HR programs involving compensation and benefits, performance management, talent development, staff engagement, employee relations, and total compensation
Support manager training, professional development, employee recognition, and internal communication
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Executive Director and leadership team on organizational design, management capacity, leadership development, succession planning, and implementation of the strategic plan
Ensure HR practices remain people-centered, inclusive, culturally responsive, and aligned with the organization's mission
