Position Summary:
The Production Manager will develop and implement daily production activities in conjunction with the schedule set by the General Manager. The position monitors production rates and product quality for production steps involved in recycling: sorting, shredding, grinding, and extruding. The position also manages the inbound/outbound activities and inventory management. Manpower is allocated on a priority basis to provide on time shipments, inventory management, and efficient use of production equipment. It also requires an understanding of the production equipment, processing techniques, and the materials involved while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Establish assignments and set expectations for operations and material flow on plant floor each day prior to beginning of each shift.
· Supervise on plant floor to manage operators’ experience curves and remove any impediments that could hinder production.
· Review the logistic schedule daily to ensure material is ready for shipment or plant floor is available for material receipt.
· At the morning meeting, provide details for any equipment and manpower that could impact the daily production schedule.
· Collect daily production forms from all areas, review for accuracy & completeness, and submit to the General Manager.
· Using production data supplied by the General Manager to set operational goal and expectations.
· Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing hourly team. Regularly conduct performance evaluations and coaching of team members.
· Maintain a clean work environment on the shop floor.
· Identifies, prioritizes, and actions continuous improvement of production activities with the General Manager, Process Engineer, and Maintenance
· Participate in monthly safety team meetings
· Identify and report any unsafe conditions that exist and provide possible solutions to the General Manager.
· Complies with safety rules and regulations on an everyday basis.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
· Associates degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a
· Minimum of 3 years working in a manufacturing environment.
· Would consider a High School Degree with 5 years in a Manufacturing environment.
