Surgery Coordinator Medical Assistant

Responsibilities: Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, pre-op appointments, and post-op follow-ups Serve as a liaison between patients, surgeons, surgical facilities, and insurance providers Obtain prior authorizations and verify insurance coverage for surgical procedures Prepare and manage surgical paperwork, operative reports, and patient medical records Assist with administrative duties including scheduling appointments, answering phones, and documenting in EHR systems Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative instructions and answer procedure-related questions Communicate with hospitals and surgery centers to confirm scheduling and required documentation

Requirements: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred Prior experience in surgical coordination or a surgical specialty practice strongly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance authorization processes Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical office software Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented clinical environment
