Role Description: This full-time, on-site role for a Cardiac and Critical Care trained anesthesiologist is based at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. The anesthesiologist will provide perioperative anesthesia care for patients undergoing cardiac and complex surgical procedures, including preoperative assessment, intraoperative management, and postoperative evaluation. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing hemodynamics, ventilation, and pain control in the operating room and intensive care unit, as well as participating in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning for critically ill patients. The role involves supervising and teaching residents, fellows, and other learners, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and adhering to institutional and national guidelines for patient safety. Participation in clinical research or academic activities is encouraged and supported.
Qualifications: Advanced clinical skills in Anesthesiology and Medicine, with demonstrated expertise in perioperative management for cardiac and high-acuity surgical patients. Competence in Critical Care Nursing principles and interdisciplinary collaboration within intensive care settings. Experience working closely with Surgery teams in cardiac and complex operative environments. Proficiency in Pain Management, including acute postoperative pain control and multimodal analgesia strategies. MD or DO degree, completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency, and fellowship training in Cardiac Anesthesia and/or Critical Care. Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology, with appropriate state medical licensure or eligibility for licensure in Texas. Strong communication, teamwork, and teaching skills, with commitment to equitable, patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement. Interest in academic medicine, including participation in research, education, or scholarly activities, is highly beneficial.
