Position: Lifeguard
Assignment: Lifeguard Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt
Reports To: Pool Manager/Athletic Director Pay Grade: AX500/221 days
Dept/School: Athletic Date Revised: Spring 2024 Primary Purpose
Provide students with a safe and efficient swimming program and assist with all swim programs.
Qualifications: Minimum Education/Certification
Red Cross CPR/AED and Lifeguard Certified:
- Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Appropriate knowledge in first aid and life saving techniques.
- Be physically fit.
- Be able to assist in some in some instructional programs.
- Experience as a lifeguard is preferred.
- Major Responsibilities and DutiesAssist in the operation of the Natatorium facility in a safe and efficient manner.
- Follow through with functions of a lifeguard.
- Protect the school students and the public from injury.
- Have good public relations with patrons of the School District.
- Do maintenance work as needed- if unable to do work, contact pool manager.
- Do assigned janitorial tasks when necessary.
- Help monitor water chemistry in the pool.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stoop, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Continual walking; occasional climbing (ladder), grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching
- Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds)
Work inside and outside natatorium environment; exposure to weather, extreme humidity, noise, vibration, biological hazards, chemical hazards (fumes, vapors, gases), electrical hazards; work with hands in water; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces. Occasional districtwide travel.
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Other: All employees are to follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
