BASES Part-Time Assistant Teacher EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). EdAdvance is redefining what a Regional Education Service Center can be using a systemic approach grounded in the "3C's", Connection Culture, and Customization. Focused on local and regional priorities, we are reinvesting the expertise, energy, and resources of the agency to amplify the benefit of our constituents. EdAdvance is seeking a qualified applicant to work in the BASES (Before and After School Extended Services) After School Program in Torrington. The qualified candidate will be professional, have experience working with middle school-aged children, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be available during after-school hours (2:30 pm-5:45 pm). Torrington High School and Middle School staff are encouraged to apply. The Assistant Teacher works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and the BASES Administrative Team.
Major responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the Site Coordinator in the operation of the after-school program daily
  • Supervising children and providing a safe, welcoming environment
  • Maintaining positive relationships with families, children, and school personnel
  • Setting up and cleaning up of program site
  • First Aid/CPR/Meds Admin certification to be acquired within 3 months of hire
  • Other duties as may be assigned
Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position.
Qualifications:
  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent, college course work in ECE/ELED or related field preferred
  • Experience working with Middle School Aged Children
  • Knowledge of Child Development
  • Awareness of Age-Appropriate curriculum activities
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Priority given to current District School Employees
