Summary:
Answers telephone and assists public with filing Small Claims, Debt Recovery, Tax Suits, JP Civil, and Eviction cases; Issues a variety of civil process and writs; Notary public for midland county documents; enters and scans filed cases into the computer; Ability to take over the duties in the absence of another court clerk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Including the following:
- Answers phone, answer the JP2 Civil email, and assists public with filing Small Claims, Debt Recovery, Tax Suits, JP Civil and Eviction cases in Pct. 2.Issues a variety of civil process and writs.
- Notary public for Midland County documents.
- Enters and scans filed cases into the computer.
- Prepares all types of civil, bench trial and jury trials
- Prepares Administrative hearings, Tow hearings and occupational license hearings.
- Issues receipts for criminal and civil cases.
- Prepares certified copies of court documents.
- Prepares appeals on all civil cases.
- Maintains Judges calendar for all types of civil hearings and appointments.
- Maintains all incoming civil correspondence and takes appropriate actions.
- Sorts and distributes mail in the absence of the Criminal or Civil Clerk.
- Takes over the duties of the Criminal or Civil Clerk when necessary.
- Assists with duties at the front counter.
- Makes deposits and takes credit card payments in the absence of Administrative Assistant.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications, Education, and/or experienceSKILL/ABILITY TOOperate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet applications; Prioritize tasks to be assigned and completed; Read and understand manuals, codes, statutes, journals, memos, etc.; Write letters and memos; Make change, perform basic mathematical calculations; Operate office equipment, such as copy machine and facsimile machine; Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and maintain effective working relationships with coworkersand the public.
