Apply for this role →Family Law Paralegal / Bookkeeping Specialist Schuster Law, S.C.is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and professional Family Law Paralegal / Legal Assistantto join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with attorneys and clients while also managing the financial and administrative details that keep a law practice running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
Family Law Paralegal Duties
Assist attorneys with family law matters, including divorce, legal separation, placement, custody, child support, paternity and related proceedings.
Prepare, organize, and maintain pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents.
Assist with preparation of court filings and ensure filing deadlines are met.
Maintain accurate and organized client files.
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other professionals.
Assist attorneys with trial and hearing preparation.
Manage calendars, deadlines, appointments, and case-related tasks.
Conduct basic legal research as requested.
Provide administrative and case-management support to attorneys. Bookkeeping & Financial Duties
Record and reconcile firm transactions.
Process client payments, invoices, and accounts receivable.
Maintain accurate billing and financial records.
Assist with trust-account and operating-account bookkeeping in accordance with applicable Wisconsin requirements and firm procedures.
Prepare and send client invoices and payment reminders.
Reconcile bank and credit-card accounts.
Assist with monthly financial reporting and other accounting-related tasks.
Maintain confidentiality of client and firm financial information.
Qualifications:
Prior experience as a paralegal or legal assistant is preferred.
Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Experience with legal billing, accounting, or practice-management software is a plus.
Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Professional judgment and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
Familiarity with Wisconsin family law and court procedures is preferred.
