Lifeguard Monitor and supervise the pool facilities, ensuring patron safety and enforcing policies and procedures. Essential functions include monitoring activity in the pool for safe behaviors, responding to emergencies, answering patron questions, performing setups of the Aquatic Center, testing pool chemical levels, conducting and documenting swim tests, maintaining physical fitness, keeping the aquatic center clean, performing light housekeeping duties, assisting with emergency response for injuries outside the Aquatic Center, and attending monthly Aquatic Staff Meetings. Other duties may be assigned. Various hours, including nights and weekends, approximately 10-20 hours per week. Standard shifts are 3-5 hours in length. Schedules are written on a weekly basis. Qualifications include being 15+ years old (16+ preferred), currently certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard (or Shallow Water Lifeguard), having good communication and interpersonal skills, and passing a pre-hire water rescue skills competency screening.
