Azure Cloud Engineer - VMware Migration

MMD Services is recruiting a Cloud Engineer on behalf of a long-standing client, a nationally recognized, employee-owned food distribution company headquartered in the western Chicago suburbs. They supply natural, organic, specialty, and fresh products to grocery retailers across North America from a network of distribution centers, and they run the technology estate that keeps that network moving. The infrastructure team is migrating its on-premises VMware estate into Azure. This role does the migration and then stays to run what it built. The migration. Move on-premises VMware workloads into Azure, start to finish. Assess the existing estate and size workloads for their Azure destination Plan migration waves and decide what moves when Execute cutovers using Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, and automation you write Handle the workloads that do not move cleanly Decommission on-premises infrastructure once waves are complete The operations. Support the Azure and AWS environments day to day. Own Azure IaaS: VM sizing and rightsizing, availability zones, disk tiers, Azure Backup Provide operational support across AWS alongside AzureTune performance and manage cost after workloads land Administer a mixed Windows Server and RHEL estate Build and maintain automation in Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShellParticipate in production support and incident response What you bring Hands-on vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter administration at enterprise scale. Cluster work, capacity management, and datastore work, not a line in a skills list. Azure IaaS fluency. VM sizing, availability design, disk tiers, and Azure Backup. Real AWS experience. This is a dual-cloud environment and you will support both, so AWS cannot be a resume mention. Both Windows Server and Linux or RHEL administration. Automation with Ansible, Terraform, or PowerShell. At least one end-to-end migration you personally worked, from assessment through cutover and decommissioning.
