Paraeducator Anamosa Elementary School is in need of Special Education Paraeducators for the 26-27 school year. Must be passionate about helping students, a team player, flexible and patient, and have good communication skills. Must have evidence of being highly qualified by meeting one of the following criteria: Paraeducator Certificate, transcripts of 2 years of college course work, Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree, OR pass district determined assessment (Accuplacer (Reading/Writing) and the ALEKS (Math). Add'l trainings will be provided such as CPI certification as needed. To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom and playground activities and environment so that students may learn effectively. Under the general direction of, and in conjunction with, licensed staff: Participates in daily and long-range lesson, classroom, and playground planning. Conducts learning exercises with small groups of students. Guides students in studying and interacting harmoniously with others. Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students. Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary. Helps maintain individual records for each student. Fosters appropriate social skills. Assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and social areas. Assists with the supervision of students during regular social periods. Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays. Provides clerical support related to educational programming, instruction and/or classroom management including, but not limited to, materials preparation, communications, and recordkeeping related to student attendance, performance, behavioral incidents, etc. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned. High School Diploma or equivalent. Paraeducator certification preferred. Fluency with relevant technology, including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet, and email. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Salary, benefits, and work year to be established by the Board.
