Job Description: Two years into your environmental career and already tired of sitting behind a desk? This role puts you on the plant floor.
Job Summary: We're adding a third environmental engineer to a two-person team, and this one is built for someone who wants to be in the field, not behind a screen. Our current engineers are buried in reporting. You'll take the inspections, sampling, and waste handling off their plate, learn how a heavy industrial plant actually runs, and grow into compliance data and reporting over time. If you want a role where your work is visible from day one, keep reading.
Duties: Own the field work that keeps the plant compliant: gather samples, run air testing, and complete visual and wetland inspections. Walk the plant checking hazardous waste labeling and disposal paperwork, catching problems before they become findings. Work directly with production departments and engineers to flag environmental issues and follow through until corrective actions are done. Build your foundation toward compliance data and regulatory reporting as you earn more responsibility.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related environmental field. Roughly two years of plant experience, ideally including an internship or junior environmental role with hands-on sampling, inspections, or waste handling. A genuine willingness to be on site and in the field every day. This is not a remote or consulting desk job. Strong verbal communication and the confidence to walk up to a department lead, raise an issue, and hold your ground until it's resolved. A self-starter mindset. Once you're trained, you'll be trusted to run your own rounds and manage your own follow-ups.
