Patent Litigation Associate Attorney

About the Opportunity: Direct Counsel is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate with 2–3 years of experience to join a leading intellectual property law firm's patent litigation practice in San Diego. The associate will work on high-stakes intellectual property disputes involving sophisticated legal strategies and complex technical issues. Candidates should have a strong background in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, or a closely related field. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading companies on complex patent matters in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities: Handle patent litigation matters involving complex technical and legal issues. Conduct detailed legal and technical analysis to support litigation strategy. Research legal issues and draft briefs, motions, and other litigation documents. Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and technical professionals on case development. Assist with case preparation, discovery, and other phases of patent litigation. Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams. Contribute to a collaborative team environment while managing competing priorities.

Qualifications: JD from an accredited law school.2–3 years of patent litigation experience. Strong technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, materials science, or a closely related field. Active membership in a state bar and compliance with applicable continuing legal education requirements. Excellent legal writing skills and strong academic credentials. Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Compensation & Benefits: Annual salary range of $235,000–$260,000, depending on qualifications and experience; compensation may be adjusted for flex-time schedules. Flexible hybrid work environment.
