Lackland, TX, USOverviewDoctoral Degree Civilian Certified Athletic Trainer to oversee Air Force Trainee Program.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the Athletic Training Program for new Air Force members under the direction of the Sports Medicine Officer.
Coordinate with Senior Athletic Trainers to ensure the Sports Medicine Hub and staff ATs operate effectively within the program plan.
Manage normal operations: hours are nine (9) per day with a one (1) hour lunch break, typically Monday through Friday.
Location oversight and collaboration with Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) area: Lackland Air Force Base (AFB); VIPER Sports Medicine Clinic.
Ensure referrals are accurately filtered from ATFs; follow standard operating procedures and referral guidelines.
Assist in developing, presenting, and implementing CPI initiatives to improve patient care in support of the training mission.
Collaborate with Sports Medicine OIC, sports medicine physicians, and leadership to meet clinical care objectives while prioritizing patient safety, access to care, quality of care, and privacy; oversee infection control and other administrative matters in ATFs.
Collaborate with sports medicine providers and other medical experts to pursue research initiatives (prospective/retrospective) per Institutional Review Board processes; share findings with relevant DoD sites; pursue peer-reviewed publication (goal: one article per year).
Qualifications:
Ten (10) or more years of experience diagnosing, treating, and/or preventing musculoskeletal injuries as a certified athletic trainer (post-graduation) in a high school, college, professional sports, or military training setting.
Three (3) or more years of experience overseeing a sports medicine or athletic training program.
All athletic trainers shall be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) and maintain current certification.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted AT license.
