Electrical Engineer – Hardware Test & Validation
Location: New York City, NYOnsite
Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive BOM scrubs to identify at-risk and EOL components and recommend/qualify alternatives. Perform Change Impact Analysis (CIA) for component changes, evaluating form, fit, function, and associated risks. Create and execute complete ECO packages, including schematics, PCB layouts, CAD models, and validation plans. Partner with firmware/software teams to validate releases against hardware configurations. Lead 8D Failure Analysis investigations, including containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures. Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Design teams to resolve field and production failures permanently.
Required Skills: 5+ years of experience in Hardware Sustaining, Product Engineering, or Test Engineering Consumer electronics or hardware manufacturing experience Altium, Cadence, OrCAD, or equivalent schematic/PCB design toolsPCB layout and schematic capture experienceBOM management and electronic component lifecycle management Component datasheet/specification analysis and alternate component qualification Hardware/Firmware integration and embedded systems knowledge 8D, FMEA, Fishbone, 5-Why and Root Cause Analysis Familiarity with IPC standardsPLM/PDM systems and formal change management processesDFM/DFT principlesCAD/3D modeling experience for electromechanical design Preferred Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and experience working in complex consumer hardware environments.
