Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Associate Professor of Mathematics Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs. Teach 36 credit hours (in-person day and evening classes as well as synchronous or asynchronous online modalities) during the 2027-2028 academic year (18 hours Fall; 18 hours Spring) and maintain 10 office hours per week. Participate in departmental administrative responsibilities. Teaching assignments will include classes on the main campus and/or at our off-site centers and may include classes with dual-enrolled students in Early College programs, the CTE Academy, and/or the Governor's STEM Academy. Perform other assigned duties and departmental activities as required to provide student support and positively impact student success.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a master's degree in math or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in math. Proficiency and willingness to teach community college level math courses as offered across the college's degree programs.
- Proficiency in and willingness to incorporate new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom.
- Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills, both in person and online.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population.
- Additional Considerations:
- Prior teaching experience in the community college environment along with teaching of dual-enrolled students highly preferred.
