Position Overview:
The Solutions Architect Engineer serves as a hands‑on technical expert who drives the development and delivery of advanced IT and telecommunications capabilities for SECWAR mission needs. This role blends engineering depth with architectural vision, ensuring emerging technologies are rapidly transformed into operationally effective solutions. The architect anticipates mission challenges, shapes forward‑leaning technical approaches, and provides senior‑level technical leadership across complex, high‑visibility efforts. Ideal candidates are technical leaders who enjoy building, integrating, and optimizing systems—not managerial overseers—capable of delivering modern, secure, and mission‑aligned capabilities at speed.

Major Duties:
Design Technical Solutions — Create detailed designs, establish technical vision, and solve unique Secretary of War business problems using IT and telecommunications capabilities. Align Technology with SECWAR Mission — Ensure proposed solutions directly support SECWAR mission needs; analyze operational environments to determine the most effective technical approach. Oversee Implementation — Collaborate with development, program management, and engineering teams to ensure flawless execution. Monitor progress, validate and test solutions, and manage delivery from cradle to grave. Evaluate Constraints & Mitigate Risk — Assess limitations, identify alternatives, and re‑engineer processes when necessary to reduce risk and strengthen solution viability. Improve & Integrate Systems — Review existing systems to identify improvement opportunities and integrate new or emerging technologies to enhance mission performance. Document & Communicate — Document architecture decisions, best practices, lessons learned, and solution roadmaps (OV‑1/SV‑1). Translate complex technical details into clear, accessible language for non‑technical stakeholders. Provide Technical Leadership — Offer guidance to senior engineers throughout the project lifecycle; serve as a hands‑on technical leader focused on rapid development and delivery of emerging technologies.
Key Skills:
Cloud Engineering Artificial Intelligence Mobile Device Technologies — Applications, device management, security, and encryption. Networking — Routers, switches, software‑defined networking, and IP transport. Telecommunications — Voice, video, and data communications systems. Encryption — Type 1 and CSfC solutions. Satellite Communications — SATCOM systems. Common Operating Pictures (COP)Continuity Operations Continuity of Government (COG)/Continuity of Presidency (COP)Mobile Communications Platforms — Fixed‑wing, rotary‑wing, and armored vehicle communications. Conditions of Employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen. This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.This is a drug testing designated position Incumbent is required to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) and/or other locations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) up to 30 percent of the time. Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret- SCI.
