K-12 Academic Tutor – Education Nonprofit

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide academic tutoring in core subjects to K–12 students Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and positive habits Support teachers with small-group and individualized instruction Monitor, track, and report student progress and attendance Foster an inclusive, respectful, and safe classroom climate Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year teammates Participate in training, coaching, and professional development Assist with after-school or enrichment activities as needed Tutoring in core subjects (math, ELA, science) Small-group instruction Classroom support Student mentoring and coaching Behavior management Progress monitoring and documentation Basic data entry and reporting Use of e-learning platforms Collaboration with teachers and staff Culturally responsive communication Background check and eligibility to serve in a school setting Commitment to a full-time service term (e.g., AmeriCorps) Experience working with children or adolescents preferred Bilingual skills a plus Basic proficiency with computers and online learning tools
