Job Description: Case Manager – Ecumenical Ministries Inc.
Job Summary: The Case Manager works within our Emergency Aid Program, providing compassionate support to individuals and families facing acute financial crises. Operating an online application and digital document submission system, you will conduct comprehensive intake assessments to evaluate client needs and hold the final authority to approve or deny agency financial interventions. This position requires a professional with a high degree of empathy, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to helping individuals to help themselves.
Key Responsibilities: Client Intake & Assessment: Conduct compassionate interviews, primarily via telephone, to assess immediate emergency needs and review uploaded documentation. Eligibility Determination: Evaluate applicant files against program guidelines to make formal approvals or denials for financial assistance. Resource Navigation: Refer clients to urgent external community resources, including housing, food, and medical aid. Case Documentation: Maintain accurate, confidential client records and data tracking within the database system in compliance with agency standards. Community Advocacy: Coordinate directly with external partners, landlords, and utility companies.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, Human Services, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in case management, social services, or crisis intervention.
Core Skills: Exceptional active listening, empathy, and verbal communication skills, both face-to-face and over the phone. Population Expertise: Proven experience working effectively with diverse, vulnerable, and marginalized populations. Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Google Docs, alongside a proactive ability to understand and explore new technologies.
Compensation & Benefits
Position Type: Full-time, 35 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
Work Location: 100% on-site. At our office 566 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope
