Required for onsite meetings and legal proceedings in Saskatchewan Non-Local Candidates: Accepted if licensed in Saskatchewan and able to travel as neededIdeal Candidate: A licensed Occupational Therapist with a strong clinical background in rehabilitation and modifications, excellent judgment, experience in documentation review, and a willingness to contribute meaningfully to SGI's injury management and claims review processes. SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist Consultant to serve as a clinical subject matter expert in injury claims, rehabilitation, and home/vehicle modification evaluations. This part-time consulting role involves case review, professional guidance, committee participation, and expert testimony on behalf of SGI.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. File and Claims ReviewAssess individual injury claims and provide professional opinions on:
- Suitability of home/vehicle modificationsAdequacy of SGI documentation (guidelines, forms)
- Future management strategies and referral recommendations2. HMVRT (Home Modification & Vehicle Review Team) ParticipationAttend bi-weekly HMVRT meetings (virtually or in-person)
Provide expert verbal and written input on proposed modifications and functional suitability3. Clinical Consulting & AdvisoryGuide external Occupational Therapists and SGI Personal Injury Specialists on rehabilitation and modification practicesSubmit updated CV upon requestDeliver professional insights and recommendations to SGI leadership and teams4. Research & Best PracticesAdvise SGI on new research and emerging best practices in OT, rehabilitation, and injury managementSuggest improvements to SGI policies, procedures, and clinical documentation5. Legal Representation & Expert TestimonyProvide evidence or testimony related to documented clinical opinions at:
Automobile Injury Appeal CommissionKing's Bench Court of SaskatchewanOther hearings, tribunals, or legal proceedings6. Professional LiaisonMaintain communication between SGI and OT regulatory/professional bodiesRepresent SGI professionally in matters of mutual concernRequired Qualifications:
Graduate of a recognized Occupational Therapy programRegistered and licensed with the Saskatchewan College of Occupational Therapists (SCOT)
In good standing with SCOTMinimum 18 months of clinical rehabilitation experienceAvailable to provide consulting services ~4 hours/week (flexible)
Willing and able to travel to Saskatchewan for onsite meetings and legal obligationsAbility to assess complex rehab cases with independence and professional judgment
