You will take and process customer orders, prepare coffee, tea, and specialty drinks to exact specifications, and ensure each guest enjoys a friendly, efficient, and consistent experience. The position also involves operating point-of-sale systems, maintaining a clean and organized preparation area, and supporting overall food service operations.
Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding customer service with every interaction, creating a welcoming and positive experience for all guests. Prepare hand-crafted beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, according to customer specifications and established recipes. Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, confirming details to ensure correct preparation and delivery. Operate cash registers and credit card machines to process payments accurately and securely. Address customer questions, concerns, or special requests in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining strong customer relationships. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of all beverages, coordinating with team members as needed to meet demand. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the beverage preparation area, including equipment, counters, and supplies. Support general food service activities such as basic food prep and production as needed to assist the team. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and operational procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and orders while maintaining quality standards. Consistently arrive on time and work the full scheduled shift, including occasional weekend shifts as required. Essential Skills Prior customer service or food and beverage experience preferred. Experience in barista, food service, or hospitality environments is beneficial. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and team members. Ability to work efficiently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Capability to operate POS systems, including cash registers and credit card machines. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and ability to work the full 3:00 PM11:30 PM shift. Comfort working in roles related to cooking, food production, and food preparation as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Background in food service, food preparation, or line cook roles is an advantage. Experience in hospitality or as a chef or prep cook is helpful. Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail when preparing beverages and handling orders. Strong customer service mindset with a focus on quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction. Work Environment:
This position is based in a college environment on a campus site, serving students, staff, and visitors in an active and dynamic setting. You will work primarily Monday through Friday, with the expectation of occasional weekend shifts, and must be available for the full 3:00 PM11:30 PM shift. The role involves standing for extended periods, working in a busy food service operation, and using standard beverage and food preparation equipment as well as POS systems. The dress code requires black non-slip shoes, black pants, and a black polo shirt, reflecting a clean, professional appearance suitable for a campus dining environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moraga, CA.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $21.55 - $21.55/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
