Apply for this role →At Skylab 3D, we empower industries across manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and product design with state-of-the-art 3D scanning, optical metrology, and reverse engineering solutions. We bridge the gap between physical objects and digital design to streamline quality control, rapid prototyping, and advanced manufacturing.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a versatile 3D Scanning & CAD Solutions Specialist to join our technical team. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with hardware and software solutions to convert real-world objects into high-accuracy 3D models, perform quality inspection reports, and demonstrate modern 3D digitizing technologies to clients. Whether you come from a background in CAD design, mechanical drafting, quality control, or rapid prototyping, this role offers an exciting opportunity to master cutting-edge 3D scanning and reverse engineering tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform high-precision 3D scanning (laser/optical) on a wide range of parts, components, and assemblies. Process 3D point cloud and mesh data into clean, parametric CAD models (Reverse Engineering).Conduct dimensional inspection and comparison analysis against nominal CAD files to support quality control (QC).Prepare detailed inspection reports and geometric analysis for internal teams and external clients. Assist with client demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical support for 3D hardware and software solutions. Stay updated on modern 3D digitizing trends, additive manufacturing workflows, and metrology software.
What We’re Looking For:
Background: 1-3+ years of experience in CAD Design, Mechanical Drafting, Quality Control, or Rapid Prototyping/3D Printing.
Software Skills:
Proficiency in standard CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, Inventor, or Geomagic).Hardware Familiarity: Hands-on interest or experience with 3D scanners, CMMs, or optical measurement tools. Problem-Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail when working with spatial data and technical drawings. Communication: Ability to explain technical workflows and present clear measurement/CAD reports to stakeholders.
Bonus Points:
Experience with specialized reverse engineering or metrology software (e.g., Geomagic Design X, Control X, Poly Works, Shining 3D, or GOM Inspect).Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
