Date: September 30, 2026JOB DESCRIPTIONSUMMARY OBJECTIVEUnder the direction of the Library Director, Assistant Director and/or the Children's Librarian, with specific responsibility to the Circulation Clerks. ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis position is under the direction ofthe Library Director, Assistant Director and/or the Children's Librarian, withspecific responsibility to the Circulation Clerks. Assist library patrons at the Adultor Children's Room circulation desk. Check in and check out all librarymaterials, books, magazines, videos, CD's, audiobooks. Collect fees. Sign up new patrons and keep thepatron file up to date. Issue new library cards and renewlibrary cards. Re-shelve library materials and keepthe collection in proper order. Help patrons locate materials. Assist in answering referencequestions. Receive phone calls and answerquestions over the phone. Assist with weeding projects, whenassigned. Assist with the covering of books, when assigned. Create book displays, when assigned. All other duties as required. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEquivalent to high school education-will train. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYNoneWORK ENVIRONMENTThe work isperformed in a typical library environment which can be hectic at times. Errorscould result in delay of patron satisfaction and confusion of library materialsrecord keeping. PHYSICAL DEMANDSConstant light to moderate physical effort required in performingduties. Constantly required to carry and handle books of all sizes; in smallpiles and singly, place books on shelves of varying heights (frequentlybending, kneeling, squatting, or reaching to doso). Climb Stairs. Typing on computers is required. TRAVELNone
