Technical Accounting Manager

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting Manager Fully remote (domestic travel 2x/quarter)Our client is seeking a highly analytical and proactive Manager, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead the financial reporting process while serving as a key advisor on complex accounting matters. This individual will research and resolve technical accounting issues, coordinate with external advisors and auditors, document well-supported conclusions, and ensure those conclusions are implemented consistently across the organization. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Lead the preparation and review of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Oversee the preparation of financial statement footnotes and supporting documentation. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. Review consolidation processes, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliations. Maintain thorough documentation supporting financial statements and disclosures. Monitor compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards. Technical Accounting & Business Partnership Research, analyze, and document technical accounting issues in formal memos, prepare calculations to support accounting conclusions, and facilitate external audit review in accordance with US GAAP. Areas include, but are not limited to: ASC 350 – Intangibles—Goodwill and OtherASC 470-50 – Debt Modifications and ExtinguishmentsASC 805 – Business CombinationsASC 842 – Leases Coordinate and partner with external technical accounting consultants to prepare accounting analyses and position papers to evaluate accounting issues and arrive at well-supported conclusions. Identify and assess complex accounting issues arising from operational changes and new initiatives. Gather facts and business context from stakeholders across the organization to facilitate technical accounting assessments. Develop, maintain, and operationalize accounting policies and procedures, and support the adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Assist with accounting considerations related to strategic projects, business transactions, and transformation initiatives. Process Improvement & Leadership Serve as an internal subject-matter resource on accounting policy application and best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across financial reporting and close processes. Identify process inefficiencies, control gaps, and reporting risks, and implement solutions to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Lead efforts to standardize finance master data, including chart of accounts governance and reporting structures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve financial visibility throughout the organization.
