Job Type: Temp to Hire
Schedule: Full time / Day shift: 6am - 6pm M-F. Friday based on production needs.
Pay Range: $15/hr.- $17/hr.
Job Summary:
The Wrapping Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting manual wrapping lathes used in composite production. This role ensures accurate machine operation, proper material handling, and consistent quality checks throughout the shift. The operator records production data, verifies product conformity using measuring tools, and follows all safety and maintenance procedures to support efficient workflow. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret blueprints, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workstation. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented operator with hands-on manufacturing experience. As well as comfortable working long shifts, using precision measuring tools, and following technical instructions. They maintain a positive attitude, communicate effectively, and support team-based production goals. They understand composite materials, exotherm prevention, and the importance of accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot wrapping manual lathes. Record and submit daily production and quality data. Use measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, temperature sensors) to verify product conformity. Read and interpret blueprints to plan machine setup and operations. Report maintenance issues and safety concerns to supervisor. Prevent exotherm by understanding material properties (roving, resins, hardeners, wax).Follow daily production schedules to meet customer requirements. Maintain electronic and physical control of material movement in/out of workstation. Perform timely material transactions and issuing for production. Ensure shop order integrity (labor and material) for all orders entering workstation. Use transaction terminals for reporting and documentation. Report non-conforming material using red tags. Attend start-up and end-of-shift departmental meetings. Complete all required production paperwork daily (checklists, red tags, adjustments, shop order reviews, receiving listings).Maintain a clean and safe work area; stock or issue incoming material immediately. Assist with resolving paperwork issues preventing order delivery. Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. Support material transactions at external machining centers as assigned. Operate filament winders as needed. Train new operators when required. Perform additional duties assigned by the Production Supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.Minimum 2+ years of production experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to lift 20 lbs. and stand for 10-12 hours. Strong communication skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Basic proficiency with measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, reach, and use hands frequently throughout the shift. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. regularly. Must be able to wear required PPE.Comfortable working around composite materials, resins, hardeners, wax, and chemicals. Ability to work long shifts in a manufacturing environment.
