$60,000–$65,000 annually, based on experienceGP Transco is seeking an experienced classroom instructor who holds a valid Class A CDL to deliver driver orientation, safety instruction, and ongoing training at our Joliet headquarters. This position combines classroom teaching, hands-on driver coaching, and the development of training materials for new and current professional drivers. Applicants must hold a valid Class A CDL and have at least two years of experience personally delivering classroom instruction to CDL drivers. Experience limited to behind-the-wheel training or driver mentoring does not meet the classroom experience requirement. GP Transco is looking for an experienced CDL-A Training Instructor to help lead the training and development of our professional drivers. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the trucking industry, knows how to connect with drivers, and can make training practical, engaging, and effective. A valid CDL Class A and at least 2 years of classroom CDL driver training experience are required.
What You’ll Do:
Conduct classroom and hands-on training for new and current CDL drivers. Develop and continuously improve training courses, presentations, tests, manuals, videos, and other learning materials. Lead portions of new driver orientation and help ensure drivers understand company policies, procedures, safety expectations, technology, and culture. Coach drivers to improve performance, professionalism, safety, and operational knowledge. Partner with Safety, Operations, Human Resources, and other teams to identify training needs and develop effective solutions. Keep training materials current with DOT/FMCSA requirements, company policies, and industry best practices. Use technology, software, video, and other tools to make training more engaging and effective. Gather feedback and evaluate training effectiveness to identify opportunities for improvement. What We’re Looking For:
Valid CDL Class A – required Minimum 2 years of classroom training experience with CDL drivers – required Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations and transportation safety requirements. Experience developing and delivering driver training programs. Strong presentation, coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage different personalities and learning styles. Patient, professional, organized, and comfortable providing constructive feedback. Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous-improvement mindset. Comfortable learning and using technology, driver systems, and Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Experience with safety audits, investigations, or safety program development is a plus. Why GP Transco?
