About Teaching Cleveland: Teaching Cleveland is a place-based education initiative that fosters engaged, informed, and passionate communities eager to work together toward a brighter future. Position Summary: The Development Director reports to and works closely with the Executive Director of Teaching Cleveland and board members in all aspects of individual, foundation, and corporate fundraising efforts. The Development Director will create strong, ongoing, deep relationships with area foundations, board members, organizations, corporations, and key community leaders. The Development Director, with the input of the Executive Director, will create and implement development goal (to be determined). The Development Director will identify, contact, cultivate, and solicit foundations, corporations, and individual donors for the purpose of meeting and/or surpassing the organization’s yearly operational revenue goals.  Compensation: The position is a part-time position with no benefits.  Salary is negotiable.
Key Responsibilities: Support the implementation of Teaching Cleveland’s revenue goals: Help create and manage the organization’s published revenue goals through an annual development plan. Support the Executive Director and management team in implementing and managing the revenue and expense goals of Teaching Cleveland. Monitor monthly outcomes versus budget. Develop strategies with the Executive Director and board members to attain the foundation, corporate and individual revenue goals. Manage the schedule and process for grant writing, grant reporting and acknowledgement of grant awards Lead the cultivation of new donor relationships, maintain and build upon current relationships/community partners and funding opportunities: Create strategies with the Executive Director and board members to deepen current fundraising and programming relationships. Research and develop new relationships, attend community-wide events, and participate in community-wide initiatives. Maintain a positive, respectful reputation for Teaching Cleveland. Effectively utilize our Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) to capture and document development activities. Support the Executive Director and Teaching Cleveland with board development: Support a culture of board fundraising by finding ways to develop an engaged board and working with the Executive Director to create a culture where all Board members are Teaching Cleveland ambassadors. Provide input for annual Development Committee goals. Assist the Executive Director and Board members with strategic planning and organizational action plans. Collaborate with the Teaching Cleveland marketing team for all communication efforts: Collaborate with the marketing team in all marketing initiatives and work with the Executive Director, marketing team, and board members on all funding and communication strategies. Raise the community profile of Teaching Cleveland to increase awareness and secure philanthropic support. Develop strategies to further engage community support and advocacy that enhances Teaching Cleveland’s mission throughout Northeast Ohio.
Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: Minimum 5 years of fundraising experience Proven track record of fundraising success
