Duties And Responsibilities:
The following job duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position, in addition to any duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time:
Instructional Support:
- Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Assist in implementing Individual Educational Plan (IEP) goals
- Effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Assist in collecting academic and behavior data as needed for the purpose of programming and instructional planning.
Student Management:
Help meet the individual needs of students.
Help manage the behavior of assigned students. This includes intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous student behavior as needed.
Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
Assist assigned students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
Assist in supervision of play and lunch activities, bus loading and unloading when needed.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum High school diploma or GED 48 semester units (official transcripts) and a passing score of the Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) within 60 days of hiring If you have a B.A./B.S. you do not need the CAPE test Department of Justice fingerprint clearance Proof of Negative TB test within the last four years CPR/First Aid certification within 60 days of hiring CalPERS LinksNot all postings qualify for CalPERS.
