Oversee assistant controllers and portfolio accountants, fostering a collaborative and efficient accounting team. Manage property accounting and fund-level reporting for acquisitions, dispositions, and investments. Collaborate with asset and portfolio management teams to optimize financial strategies. Engage with third-party service providers, including auditors, tax preparers, and legal counsel. Handle investor requests and maintain robust client relationships through effective communication. Ensure compliance with debt agreements and regulatory requirements, maintaining financial integrity. Contribute to the firm's performance metrics, corporate budgeting, and strategic planning initiatives. Controller – Portfolio Accounting Key Responsibilities & DutiesLead accounting and reporting for direct real estate investments and joint ventures. Review quarterly consolidations, financial statements, and client reporting processes. Manage year-end audits and ensure timely financial statement preparation. Oversee compliance with debt agreements and reporting requirements. Collaborate with corporate accounting teams to align performance metrics and budgets. Supervise assistant controllers and portfolio accountants, ensuring operational efficiency. Coordinate with asset management teams to align financial strategies with portfolio objectives. Engage with external auditors, tax professionals, and legal advisors for compliance and planning.

Controller – Portfolio Accounting Job Requirements: Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting or related field required.10-15 years of experience in real estate portfolio accounting or audit. CPA certification and public accounting experience, preferably with Big 4 firms. Proficiency in Excel and data management tools; MRI or Yardi experience preferred. Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. Experience with REIT structures and private equity accounting is a plus. Familiarity with Workiva or Anaplan software is advantageous. Proven ability to manage teams and collaborate across departments.
