About the Role: As a Patient Navigator – Hereditary Cancer Testing, you will be an important part of the patient experience from the moment they arrive. You will help patients understand the hereditary cancer testing process, coordinate their care, answer questions, and make sure they feel informed and supported every step of the way. You’ll work closely with physicians, clinical teams, and site leadership to create a smooth, compassionate, and personalized experience. This role also includes limited phlebotomy and specimen collection, which represents approximately 5–10% of the position and may grow as operational needs evolve. What You'll Do: Guide and support patients throughout the hereditary cancer genetic testing process. Provide clear, compassionate education about testing, procedures, and next steps. Build trust and create a welcoming experience for patients and families. Register patients and coordinate appointments, follow-up visits, and related services. Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned patients and help ensure their questions and needs are addressed. Perform venipuncture and specimen collection accurately and professionally, approximately 5–10% of the role. Verify patient identity and properly label specimens at the time of collection. Maintain accurate patient documentation and records in accordance with company policies and applicable privacy regulations. Work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and site leadership to support daily patient-care operations. Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming clinical environment. What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications: 2+ years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant working within a clinical team.2+ years of experience with insurance verification and authorization processes. Nationally certified phlebotomist with demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Demonstrated competency in blood collection for genetic testing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to make patients feel comfortable and supported. Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment. Ability to support operations across multiple sites as needed. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record if travel between locations is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Registered or Certified Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA).2+ years of experience working in a patient service center or similar outpatient clinical environment. Previous experience in a patient-facing healthcare role. Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).Strong data-entry and documentation skills. Bilingual English/Spanish. Work Requirements: The essential functions of this position include: Standing, walking, and moving throughout the clinic for extended periods. Performing venipuncture and specimen collection requiring fine motor skills. Lifting and moving supplies and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.
