Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Capital Growth Commercial Account Manager Remote and field-based within your territory | Municipal water and wastewater Most people selling into municipal utilities find out about a project when the bid is published. By then, the conversations that really matter have already happened. This role puts you in those conversations, with something no competitor can match behind you. You’ll join a private equity-backed water infrastructure business that has roughly quadrupled its revenue in six years. A recent merger means it now offers engineering, trenchless rehabilitation and full utility O&M under one roof. Competitors need several vendors to do the same. As the single commercial owner of a defined territory and its strategic accounts, you’ll be responsible for long-term customer growth rather than chasing one-off projects. Three or four days a week, you’ll be out with utility directors, operations teams, consulting engineers and on job sites, spotting opportunities long before anyone writes an RFP.Your conversations will be about what customers are trying to achieve. Wet-weather capacity, overflows, condition-assessment findings, CIP priorities, funding and rate pressure. You’ll turn those problems into a business case built on risk, resilience and lifecycle cost. You don’t need to engineer every solution yourself. Your skill is knowing when to bring in the right specialists across rehabilitation, condition assessment, I&I, engineering, digital analytics and O&M, while keeping the relationship firmly with you. You’ll share accounts with a colleague who leads on outsourcing, passing opportunities in both directions. What you can offer customers keeps growing too, through acquisitions and new technology. In a business moving this quickly, roles evolve and new leadership positions open up. High performers can also be selected for an established leadership programme run with a world-leading business school. You’ll have 8 to 12 years’ experience selling technical services into municipal water and wastewater or comparable public infrastructure, and a track record of growing a territory year after year through repeat business. You’ll understand CIP development, SRF and grant funding, and public procurement. If you’d rather be the person customers call before the RFP is written, let’s have a confidential conversation.
