About This JobAs a Body Shop A Technician, you play a critical role in restoring damaged vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring both safety and aesthetic excellence. You lead complex repair processes, applying advanced technical skills to deliver high-quality results. This position directly impacts customer satisfaction and the reputation for superior craftsmanship. You contribute to a safe and efficient work environment, upholding the highest industry standards for vehicle repair.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs comprehensive Collision Repair, addressing structural and cosmetic damage with precision. Executes advanced Frame Straightening and Unibody Repair using specialized equipment to restore vehicle integrity. UtilizesResistance Spot Welding and other welding techniques to join and repair vehicle components according to manufacturer specifications. Manages complete Panel Replacement, ensuring seamless fit and finish for all exterior and interior panels. Applies expert techniques for Dent Repair, removing imperfections and preparing surfaces for subsequent steps. Prepares vehicles for Automotive Refinishing, including sanding, masking, and priming, to achieve a flawless paint application. Oversees and executes thorough Vehicle Disassembly & Reassembly, ensuring all components are correctly removed, stored, and reinstalled. Maintains current I-CAR Certification and actively pursues ongoing training to stay abreast of new technologies and repair methods. Diagnoses complex vehicle damage and develops effective repair plans. Collaborates with team members and service advisors to ensure efficient workflow and clear communication. Adheres to all safety protocols and environmental regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Conducts final quality checks to ensure all repairs meet company and industry standards before vehicle delivery.
Required Qualifications:
EducationPossesses a High School Diploma or equivalent. Completes vocational or technical training in automotive body repair. ExperienceAccumulates significant experience as an automotive body repair technician, specializing in complex collision and structural repairs. Demonstrates a proven track record of high-quality workmanship and efficiency. Knowledge/SkillsPossesses expert knowledge of Collision Repair methodologies and best practices. Applies advanced skills in Frame Straightening and Unibody Repair techniques. Masters various welding processes, including Resistance Spot WeldingExcels in Panel Replacement and alignment. Proficiently performs Dent Repair using a variety of tools and methods. UnderstandsAutomotive Refinishing preparation processes. Skilled in comprehensive Vehicle Disassembly & ReassemblyHolds current I-CAR Certification (or equivalent industry certification). Interprets repair manuals, technical diagrams, and manufacturer specifications. Exhibits strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Communicates effectively with team members and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Holds advanced I-CAR certifications (e.g., Platinum Individual). Possesses ASE certifications in relevant areas (e.g., B2, B3, B4, B5). Completes manufacturer-specific training programs. Physical Requirements/Work ConditionsLifts and moves heavy objects, often exceeding 50 pounds. Standswalksbendskneels, and crouches for extended periods. Operates hand and power tools, as well as specialized body shop equipment. Works in an environment with exposure to noise, fumes, dust, and chemicals.
