Role Description: The Family Office Tax and Trust Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY.
Responsibilities: Prepare federal and state trust tax returns and annual trust accountings. Manage trust administration, including quarterly distributions and trustee fees. Review trust documents. Prepare gift, individual, foundation, corporate, and partnership tax returns. Prepare required 1099 forms. Prepare extensions and estimated tax payments. Support investment accounting, accounts payable, and receivable. Assist with annual audits for The Clark Estates and related foundations. Analyze general ledger, post journal entries, and maintain accounts. Prepare year-end workpapers and financial statements. Address tax, accounting, and business inquiries. Respond to IRS and state/local tax notices. Improve and implement firm processes and procedures.
Qualifications: BS/BBA in Accounting is required. Trust tax preparation experience is required. Tax preparation experience is required.3-5 years of experience in public accounting is preferred. CPA and/or EA preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is preferred. Experience with accounting and tax preparation software required. Great attention to detail and communication skills. Team player with positive attitude.
