Responsibilities of Lower School Librarian: Develop and implement library curriculum for grades K-5.Connect students with books based on interests and needs. Support classroom literacy instruction and research projects. Lead and coordinate author visits, book clubs, and engaging library programming to increase student interest and participation. Collaborate with Middle and Upper School library staff to ensure library resources align with and support school-wide initiatives. Manage and curate print collections and library spaces to support student needs and school initiatives. Implement instructional practices that fosters students' information literacy and critical thinking skills. Requirements of Lower School Librarian: Master of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent advanced degree. Previous experience working with students in grades K-5.Knowledge of children’s literature, early literacy development, and developmentally appropriate instructional practices. Proven ability to develop and deliver information literacy curriculum. U.S. Work Authorization required. Additional Desired Qualities: Experience with Library Management Software systems, such as Follett Destiny. Desire to be involved in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities. Previous independent school experience preferred, but not required.
