Apply for this role →School Bus DriverJob Goal: To provide clean, safe, and reliable transportation to ensure students enjoy the full advantage of District programs and activitiesResponsible To: Operations DirectorQualifications: High school diploma or equivalentValid CDL license with required endorsements - TRAINING AVAILABLE, paid by districtMeet all state and district requirements for bus drivers, including defensive driving, CPR, and first aid certificationAt least one year experience in driving some type of motor vehicle (which may be a private automobile), including experience throughout each of the four seasonsSuccessfully complete behind-the-wheel trainingDesire to continue career improvement by enhanced skills and job performancePhysical Conditions: Requires prolonged sittingRequires driving skills, including operating vehicle at nightPhysical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materialsAbility to lift and carry 30 pounds unassistedStooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turningMust work indoors and outdoors during the school yearMust work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments, with numerous interruptionsMust work in and around dust, fumes, and odorsTerms: At will 9 month positionMorning and afternoon routes, 3 hours per dayWage and benefits determined annually by the Board of EducationEssential Job Functions: Support the district's vision, mission, and valuesImplement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of educationProvide clean, safe, and reliable transportation to ensure students benefit from district programs and activitiesEnsure all activities conform to State school transportation guidelinesOperate all vehicles and equipment as necessaryMaintain discipline when students are on the bus and report those students who do not obey rules to the proper authoritiesKeep assigned bus cleanCheck bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failureDischarge students only at authorized stopsExercise responsible leadership and good judgment when on out-of-district school tripsTransport only authorized studentsReport all accidents and complete required reportsEnforce regulations against smoking and eating on the busRespond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely mannerCommunicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and the communityReact to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assignedPerform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the supervisor of operationsUSD 460 is an equal employment opportunity agency.
