$165,000-$225,000 Base Salary + Bonus + Benefits + you'll love working here. Build the Infrastructure That Keeps the World Running Critical Facility Group (CFG) designs and delivers the data centers and mission-critical facilities that support essential digital services, businesses, communities, and everyday life. Our work helps ensure that critical systems remain reliable, resilient, and operational when people and organizations depend on them most. We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who wants to make a visible impact on complex, high-consequence projects while helping shape the future of CFG’s electrical engineering practice. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise, leadership, and judgment to projects where the decisions you make matter. You will have the autonomy to establish engineering approaches, influence system architecture, guide project teams, and work directly with clients, contractors, utilities, manufacturers, and other project partners. About CFGCritical Facility Group specializes in the design, construction administration, and operational support of data centers and other critical facilities. We reduce construction and operational risk through practical engineering, collaborative design, early trade engagement, and direct involvement throughout project delivery. Our engineers look beyond drawings and calculations. We consider how systems will be procured, installed, commissioned, operated, maintained, expanded, and ultimately relied upon. That perspective allows us to deliver solutions that are not only technically sound, but also constructible, maintainable, and resilient. At CFG, you will work alongside experienced professionals who value clear thinking, ownership, collaboration, and practical results. You will have the opportunity to influence how projects are delivered and how our team continues to grow.
The Opportunity:
As Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the design and delivery of data centers, critical facilities, and other complex infrastructure projects. You will own the electrical engineering outcome from concept through construction, establish technical direction, lead design teams, review and develop the work of others, and serve as a trusted technical partner to clients and project stakeholders. This role is intentionally broader than a traditional production-focused engineering position. You will remain technically engaged and may contribute directly when needed, but your greatest impact will come from setting direction, making sound engineering decisions, developing people, anticipating risk, and elevating the quality of the entire team. You will have the independence to apply your experience and judgment while working closely with CFG leadership and project teams. As CFG grows, this role can expand into broader technical leadership, practice development, client leadership, and organizational responsibility. What You’ll Lead Technical Leadership• Lead the electrical engineering design of data centers, critical facilities, and other complex building infrastructure projects.• Establish project electrical design criteria, system architecture, distribution concepts, equipment selections, and technical approaches.• Provide technical direction to electrical engineers and designers throughout design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover.• Develop and evaluate critical power system topologies, including utility services, medium- and low-voltage distribution, generators, UPS systems, transfer systems, paralleling systems, and redundant power architectures.• Lead electrical system planning from utility interconnection through final branch-circuit and equipment power distribution.• Provide technical leadership for grounding, lighting, emergency power, controls interfaces, and related electrical building systems.• Perform and review load calculations, voltage-drop studies, equipment sizing, fault-current evaluations, and related electrical analyses.• Perform and review power system modeling, including short-circuit, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies.• Apply engineering principles, codes, standards, and industry practices to design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and operational challenges.• Develop planning concepts and engineering solutions for new facilities, expansions, renovations, and existing-system modifications.• Lead system assessments, investigations, and existing-condition evaluations and prepare technical reports and recommendations.• Identify technical risks early and guide the team toward practical, reliable, and constructible solutions. Team Leadership and Mentoring• Lead, mentor, and develop electrical engineers and designers at different stages of their careers.• Assign and coordinate technical work based on project priorities, individual strengths, and professional development goals.• Review calculations, drawings, specifications, studies, and other engineering deliverables for accuracy, coordination, constructability, and completeness.• Provide clear technical direction and meaningful feedback that helps engineers build confidence and independent judgment.• Establish expectations for design quality, documentation, coordination, and accountability.• Identify technical knowledge gaps and support targeted training, coaching, and professional development.• Serve as an escalation point for complex technical questions and project issues.• Help develop and standardize CFG electrical design practices, tools, details, specifications, and quality-control processes.• Create an environment where engineers understand the reasoning behind design decisions and are encouraged to take ownership of their work.• Help build a stronger, more capable electrical engineering team as CFG continues to grow. Project and Client Leadership• Serve as the electrical technical lead.• Coordinate electrical requirements with all other disciplines.• Lead and participate in client, contractor, and project-team meetings.• Communicate technical issues, alternatives, risks, and recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.• Support project managers with scope development, project planning, staffing, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.• Manage technical priorities across multiple concurrent projects.• Support internal and external design presentations and technical discussions.• Build trusted relationships with clients, contractors, utilities, manufacturers, commissioning teams, and other project partners.• Represent CFG with professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to project outcomes. Construction Administration and Field Support• Review electrical submittals, RFIs, contractor questions, substitution requests, and proposed change orders.• Provide timely technical direction during construction.• Conduct construction site observations and evaluate installations for general conformance with design documents.• Participate in field investigations, equipment inspections, commissioning activities, punch-list development, and project turnover.• Evaluate unforeseen field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions.• Support successful project delivery by staying engaged from design through installation and operation.• Represent CFG and, where required, the Owner in technical discussions with contractors and project stakeholders. Tools and Technical Capabilities You will be expected to understand and effectively use the tools that support CFG’s engineering work. You should be capable of contributing directly when needed while primarily providing technical leadership, review, and direction. Why This Role Matters The systems you help design will support organizations, services, and communities that cannot afford downtime. Your work will influence how critical facilities are powered, protected, built, commissioned, operated, and maintained for years to come. You will not be limited to producing a defined portion of a project. You will have the opportunity to understand the full system, shape the engineering approach, guide the team, and see your decisions carried through into the built environment. Professional Growth at CFGCFG is committed to helping experienced engineers expand their influence and develop as leaders. In this role, you will have opportunities to:• Lead increasingly complex and high-impact mission-critical projects.• Mentor and develop the next generation of electrical engineers.• Shape CFG’s electrical engineering standards, tools, and delivery practices.• Work directly with clients and senior project stakeholders.• Expand your expertise across design, construction, commissioning, and operations.• Grow into broader technical leadership, project leadership, client leadership, or practice-development responsibilities.• Help define the culture and capabilities of a growing specialist engineering firm.
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role means taking ownership of the technical outcome and helping others do the same. You will establish a clear engineering approach, lead the team producing the work, identify risks before they become project issues, communicate effectively with clients and contractors, and develop engineers into increasingly capable and independent professionals. You will be trusted to make decisions, expected to use your judgment, and supported in expanding your impact. The Lead Electrical Engineer should be technically capable of performing the work directly when needed, but the greatest measure of success will be the strength of the projects you lead and the engineers you help develop.
