Position Summary: The Economics department seeks to hire a Course Assistant to assist Professor Gilbert Skillman with the courseECON 352 Political Economy. Course Assistants play a vital role in supporting the instructor and students throughout the course. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks to ensure the course runs smoothly and enhance the overall learning experience for all participants.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Attending class sessions as requested by the instructor Supporting students through office hours and academic assistance Assisting with grading assignments and exams Helping manage course-related administrative tasks Facilitating discussion and engagement with course materials
Desired Skills & Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have successfully completed ECON 110 with a B- or better Economics Majors are encouraged to apply! Ideal student will be detail-oriented Students who are eligible for work-study will be given preference Interest in political economy, game theory, and institutional analysis Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with students and faculty Schedule & Availability Fall 2026, has the potential to be re-hired in following semesters. Course Assistants work an average of 2-3 hours per week from October 9, 2026, to December 19, 2026. Class sessions take place on T.R.. 10:20AM-11:40AM The position requires in-person attendance. Primary Supervisor Gilbert Skillman, Professor of Economics, gskillman@wesleyan.edu Contact Ryan Launder, Economics Department Administrative Assistant, rlauder@wesleyan.edu Performance Evaluation Supervisor will check in with the CA weekly and share feedback as applicable.
