Apply for this role (opens in a new tab)Rugged Humanoid Robot Systems Engineer Minerva Humanoids is developing rugged humanoid robots to do the most dangerous jobs on the planet, where human life is truly at risk. Our Systems team is responsible for the onboard computers, middleware, cameras, networks, and operator interfaces that carry commands, robot state, and live video between the robot and its operators.
About the Role:
You will help make the whole robot work as one system. Onboard computers, middleware, cameras, networks, and operator interfaces must carry commands, robot state, and live video reliably. You will own a focused project in teleoperation transport, middleware, robot bring-up, or diagnostics that improves one of those connections, and validate it on a real robot. You will measure command and video latency, packet loss, and reconnection behavior for your project, improve installation, configuration, and startup checks so engineers can bring up a robot consistently, and debug hardware and software failures using logs, timing measurements, and packet captures. You will work with controls, perception, and deployment engineers to test stale commands, lost links, and recovery. Our robots operate in demanding environments where operators need responsive control and clear feedback, so your work should make setup repeatable, failures visible, and recovery predictable. This role offers ownership of a substantial engineering project, with direct technical guidance from the founding team. We value initiative, organization, and persistence. We are flexible about the approach, provided that the solution works reliably on the robot. What You Will Bring Education: Graduate studies in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. Systems experience: Hands-on experience integrating software with physical systems. Networking foundations: Working knowledge of TCP/UDP networking. Programming: Proficiency in Python or C++ on Linux, with experience reading logs and writing tests. Engineering approach: Careful experimental debugging and an organized approach to experiments and documentation. Ownership: Motivation to learn unfamiliar methods and carry a substantial project through implementation, integration, and evaluation. Useful Additional Experience ROS 2, DDS, real-time Linux, or EtherCAT. WebRTC, GStreamer, RTP, or camera and video pipelines. Jetson, device provisioning, or robot deployment experience.
Compensation & Benefits: Hourly-based compensation
