Our client is a global alternative asset manager with a long history of investments in the insurance space. The firm acquires and invests in insurance businesses with a long-term ownership approach, using its own balance sheet alongside traditional fund capital. Its mandate spans insurance carriers and insurance services businesses, along with partnerships, financings and structured equity or credit investments.
The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an Associate to join its insurance investments team. This is an investment role that combines acquisition execution with ongoing work alongside the insurance businesses the firm owns. You will build models, develop investment views, lead diligence and prepare investment committee materials, then see how those decisions play out after closing. The team is small, which gives you exposure to senior investors, firm leadership and portfolio company management, and a real hand in shaping outcomes.
Core Responsibilities: You will be involved across the investment lifecycle:
- Building financial models and valuation analyses independently
- Evaluating opportunities and developing the supporting investment thesis
- Conducting financial, commercial and business diligence
- Reviewing transaction documents and coordinating with external advisers
- Preparing investment committee memos and presentations
- Researching insurance markets, competitors and potential acquisition targets
- Working with management teams and supporting oversight of operating businesses
- Coordinating across the firm on transaction and portfolio initiatives
Candidate Qualifications1–4 years of experience covering insurance in investment banking, equity research or private equity.
Strong independent modeling and valuation skills, with the ability to distinguish underwriting balance-sheet risk from fee-based services businesses.
Clear investment judgment and the ability to identify the risks that matter most.
Polished written work and presentations.
Ownership, initiative and comfort working in a lean team.
A collaborative approach and willingness to handle detailed execution.
