Job Description:
Are you an insurance investment accountant looking to take ownership of complex investment reporting for a sophisticated portfolio? Our client is seeking a Lead Investment Accountant focused on investment accounting, statutory reporting, and regulatory reporting for a large life insurance investment portfolio. This is a technical lead role, not a people-management position, and offers the opportunity to become a subject-matter expert while partnering across accounting, finance, and investment teams.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead statutory and GAAP accounting for fixed income investments and mortgage assets. Prepare and review investment schedules, statutory financial statements, regulatory filings, and NAIC reporting, including AVR and IMR.Research and resolve complex investment accounting issues. Support internal controls, process improvements, and system enhancements. Serve as a technical resource and partner with auditors, regulatory examiners, and internal teams.
Your Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.4+ years of insurance accounting experience, preferably within investment accounting. Candidates from a large public accounting firm may also be considered with meaningful insurance audit experience. Experience with fixed income securities, mortgage loans, or insurance investment portfolios. Knowledge of statutory accounting, GAAP, NAIC requirements, and insurance regulatory reporting. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
