Senior Director of Electrical Engineering

Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership Develop and execute a long-term strategy for growing and strengthening the Electrical Engineering function. Serve as a senior technical authority and provide direct project support when required. Act as Engineer of Record as needed (multi-state PE licensure may be required).Oversee development of electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation. Guide power system protection and relaying design for electrical distribution systems. Review complex electrical system studies, models, and recommendations. Lead development of equipment specifications, bid packages, and technical evaluations. Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards (utilities, energy, and industrial sectors).Partner with Quality teams to support technical reviews and subject matter resource allocation. Organizational & Operational Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Directors and Managers. Drive performance management, career pathing, and succession planning within the discipline. Ensure teams are properly trained, qualified, and positioned to support project execution and proposals. Establish and maintain engineering processes, standards, and best practices. Collaborate with executive leadership to align engineering strategy with overall business objectives. Support regional teams with appropriate technical staffing and expertise. Business Development & Client Support Serve as a senior technical point of contact for client discussions and project updates. Support proposal development, cost estimating, and staffing strategies. Maintain and expand relationships within existing client portfolios. Identify new opportunities aligned with market trends and emerging technologies. Stay informed on industry cycles and prioritize high-value growth opportunities.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.15+ years of industry experience in power systems, utilities, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.5+ years in leadership or engineering management roles. Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, protection & relaying, and major equipment specifications. Experience supporting both office-based engineering and field execution.
